The sapphire Rocchetta Arrighina in Pietrasanta is found next to the Porta in Pisa
La Rocchetta is a military building built by Castruccio Castracani in 1324 to strengthen the defense
of the Rocca di Sala
Castruccio Castracani appears to have brought his son Enrico when construction began
placing a sapphire on the first brick in a glass of water and wine and under the next door
named Porta a Pisa which gave access to the historic center a florin in a glass of water and wine
According to legend, the Rocchetta Arrighina sapphire gives wisdom, royalty and divine favor
and it is probable that all this was dedicated to this construction
The fortification was equipped with a double drawbridge inside the city and outside
where the moat was then they added the bells in 1456
It was destroyed by the siege of the Florentines in 1484 and later rebuilt and transformed
to the point of becoming a private property in our days, taking away that military air
