St Hermes – Patron of Forte dei Marmi

St Hermes is the patron saint of the town of Forte dei Marmi who is celebrated by organizing a
huge party all over the city.
The party takes place on August 28 with which the summer is now running out.
It starts with the celebrations from the early hours of the day with the opening of the large fair with
stands arriving from all over Italy and from all over Europe which continues until night hours.
The St Herman fair is one of the most famous in Italy for the variety of goods offered where they are
there are also outlets of major brands.
But the most anticipated event is in the evening where the most anticipated fireworks display will begin at
around 10pm of the summer in which extraordinary fireworks will be fired in the air and in the water
directly from the the pier of Forte dei Marmi.
The best place to watch the fireworks display is the beach where everyone is guaranteed access
even in the private bathrooms, to better enjoy the show it is advisable to go to the beach
well in advance to be able to secure the best seats.
The feast of Sant’Ermete is the most anticipated event of the summer in which both adults and children
can have fun.
It is recommended that littering on the beach is strictly prohibited.
If you are looking for an alternative view, it is advisable to observe the fireworks display from the
panoramic points of the hills above, in particular “the wall of Capriglia”.
The saint – St Hermes
St Hermes was proclaimed a saint following his execution in Roman times for
having proclaimed himself a Christian along with his other disciples around 130 AD.
There were many works dedicated to his name and he is celebrated in many Italian cities
for his courage not to deny God even in the face of death.
