Labor Museum – Seravezza

The Labor Museum is located in Seravezza inside the Medici Palace.
The museum describes how many of the most important works in the area were carried out
in the years of the domination of the Medici family, with rudimentary and technical tools
very dangerous, especially as regards the workers of the quarries.
The museum is located on the second floor of the building and is divided into 11 rooms each
dedicated to a different theme:
1st room is dedicated to the territory
2nd room is dedicated to work in the vineyard and in the cellar
3rd room is dedicated to agriculture in the mountains
4th room is dedicated to the house
5th room is dedicated to the customs and traditions of Versilia
6th room is dedicated to agriculture in the Versilian plain
7th room is dedicated to the old art of weaving
8th room is dedicated to the excavation of marble
9th room is dedicated to marble processing
10th room is dedicated to sculpture
11th room is dedicated to extraction in mines and ironworks.
Workshops and activities are also organized.
It is also possible to book guided tours with up to 50 participants.
Palazzo Mediceo – Museum of Labor
The Medici Palace was built by Cosimo I of the Medici family as
summer residence villa for the Medici family and as a home during checkups
to the large quarries owned by the Medici family who then transported the materials to the
their city: Florence.
In addition to the labor museum, the Medici Palace houses the municipal library, the historical archive and is the seat
of important modern and contemporary exhibitions.
